Welcome
Welcome to Holyrood Academy
Welcome to Holyrood Academy, a school that has proudly served Chard and the surrounding communities for more than 110 years. Since 1910, generations of families have entrusted us with the education of their children, and we continue to take that responsibility very seriously.
Holyrood exists to serve its community. We are proud of our history and equally proud of the difference we make today, promoting social justice, expanding opportunity and ensuring that every young person has the chance to thrive, regardless of their background or starting point.
At Holyrood, our beliefs about education are simple. Every student deserves to be supported, challenged and encouraged to achieve their very best. Academic achievement matters because education has the power to transform lives, open doors and create opportunities for the future. We are ambitious for every student and proud of the diverse, talented and hardworking young people who make up our school community.
As a comprehensive school, we are committed to nurturing the aspirations of every child. Alongside academic success, we place great value on the wider experiences that help young people grow in confidence and character. Whether on the stage, in the art studio, on the sports field, through service to others or in the many enrichment opportunities available, we want every student to find something that inspires them and helps them flourish.
We have high expectations because we care deeply about our students and their futures. We want them to achieve exceptionally well while enjoying their education in a school that is safe, welcoming and kind.
Our values are simple: Work Hard, Be Kind, Join In. These words capture what Holyrood stands for. They reflect our commitment to ambition, respect, participation and service, and they help ensure that our students leave us not only with excellent qualifications, but also with the character and confidence to make a positive contribution to their communities.
I am delighted to welcome you to Holyrood and hope that you will see the warmth, ambition and strong sense of community that have defined this school for over a century.
