Year 6 Transition

Welcome

Welcome to #TEAMHOLYROOD!

Thank you for choosing Holyrood and for placing your trust in us as your child prepares to take the exciting step from primary to secondary school. As a parent myself, I understand that this transition can bring a mixture of excitement and uncertainty. Please be reassured that we will take the time to get to know your child as an individual, support them every step of the way, and work closely with you to ensure they feel happy, confident and ready to thrive as part of our community.

At Holyrood, we believe that every child deserves to feel known, valued and supported to achieve their very best. Our school is built around three simple values: Work Hard, Be Kind, Join In. These values shape everything we do, from the classroom to the sports field, from the stage to our wider community.

I hope you have had the opportunity to meet members of our staff team at one of our Primary School Roadshows, Open Evenings or school tours. If you have not yet visited us, I would strongly encourage you to do so. The best way to understand what makes Holyrood special is to experience the warmth, enthusiasm and sense of belonging that our students and staff create every day.  Our students are always proud to show visitors around and share what it means to be part of our Holyrood community.

Once your child has been allocated a place at Holyrood, we will be in touch with information about our Transition Days, Transition Evening and Meet the Tutor Evening. We will also work closely with your child's Year 6 teacher and primary school to ensure we get to know them well before they arrive.

We recognise that some children, particularly those with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities, may need additional support during this transition. Our SEND Team works closely with primary schools, families and external agencies to make sure every child feels confident, supported and ready for the exciting journey ahead.

I am incredibly proud to be Headteacher of this brilliant school and look forward to welcoming you and your family into our community. Together, we will ensure your child has every opportunity to work hard, be kind, join in, and thrive.
